Hello
I am facing an issue regarding the field Parameter
After updating to the July 2025 version of Power BI Desktop (v2.145.1105.0), the field parameter slicer no longer updates the visual (table/matrix/chart) when selecting a different dimension.
The same report works perfectly in the June 2025 version. The issue only started after the July update.
Here's what I've tried to fix the issue:
Rebuilding the field parameter from scratch in the July 2025 version
Re-adding visuals and slicers
Checking DAX logic and visual mappings
Creating a fresh PBIX file with a simple parameter to rule out file corruption
Despite these efforts, the visuals do not respond or change when selecting a new dimension from the field parameter slicer in the July 2025 version.
This behavior is breaking existing dashboards that rely heavily on field parameter-based dynamic dimensions.
It appears this might be a regression or unintended side effect introduced in the July 2025 update.
Please let me know:
If others are facing the same issue
If this is a known bug
If there is a patch or workaround available
Also since the new version is also updated in power bi serices the same isssue is also there. So downgrading to older version in powerbi Desktop doesnt help.
Hi @Ayush1001 ,
This is a known issue as correctly pointed out by @speedramps and rightfully demonstrated.
You can upvote the idea here to gather attention to the issue-

I hope this helps!
Thank you
Is it the same as this problem?

Please can you add an example PBIX with the problem.
I have won 5 Super User awards and attend meetings with other Super Users like @danextian
If you can please provide proof there is a problen with Frield Parameters then we will try escalate the problem.
Thank you !

Hi @speedramps
Yes the facing the similar issue as you share the link. Attaching the power bi sample file and elaborate the issue with the screenshot for better understanding. please check and help
In Power BI report, I am using a dynamic parameter (Parameter 1) to control the dimension displayed in a matrix visual (e.g., Category, Sub-Category, Region). However, when I switch between dimensions multiple times—such as from Category to Sub-Category, or to Region— from parameter 1 the matrix chart stops responding or fails to update as expected. I have attached screenshots to illustrate the issue(Selected Region in the parameter 1 but it wont change in matrix) Earlier in the June 2025 update it was correctly working. I would appreciate any guidance on how to make the matrix respond dynamically to any selection or switch made in Parameter 1 without breaking the visual.
Hi again @Ayush1001
Thanks for the PBIX example !
Why have you created three identical field parameters for Category, Subcat and Region?
Are you trying to pick the matrix hierarchy?
If yes then you do not need to create 3 identical field parameters.
Just create 1 field parameters with Category, Subcat and Region.
Then set the slicer to multiple selection.
Then use the CTRL key to multi select items.
The hierarchy will automatically be determined by the sequence you multi select items.
Just clear the items to reset.
For example
Please note that on a Matrix visual that the drilldown does not automatically refresh, which is annoyoing !
For example turn off the Matric Row Header +/- icon for the expander
Then slice by Category by Region. Note the Matrix only shows Category unless you drilldown !!!
The slice by Region by Category. Note the drilldown is lost and have have click drilldown again !!
I cheched this annoying behaviour happens in Power BI Desktop (Version: 2.145.1262.0 64-bit (July 2025) and the Power Bi Service as at 26July2025.
The Field Parameters hierachy appear to be working ok, but the matrix visual always needs a manual drilldown to display the hierachy eacvh time the fiel parameter slicer changes.

Please click thumbs up because I have tried to help.
Then provide feedback if this is the same pronlem you mean. Or do you mean something else?
We can reach out to other members and the support team to determin if this a new problem.
