I've noticed that when I refresh my dataset, it clears out any descriptions that I have setup for my standard fields (non-measures). Can somebody help me figure out a way to retain those values regardless of the dataset being refreshed or not? I'm currently on this version of Power BI Desktop.

@slm_chance , Field descriptions in Property pane (model view). That should not go away- Check and log an issue if needed https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues
This has happened for me again recently.
The descriptions for the tables that I had added would be working ok in the orginal *.pbip and *.pbix file however when exporting the file to a power BI template (*.pbit) and then loading the template with data, the descriptions suddenyl disappeared...
Just in case it helps others: it seems that this was somehow linked to the version the descriptions were added with.
After revisiting all the descriptions (e.g. by adding a space or a dot at the end) and saving the report in Power BI Version 2.140.1078.0 64-bit (February 2025), the issue resolved.
Hello @slm_chance,
Did you find a solution for the above issue? We are facing the same problem...
did you open a seperate issue to report this? If so could you please share the link so I can track it there?
Thank you!
Hi @SamB7 - issue is linked below. I had the same issue, but I have not tried the March 2022 release yet to see if the issue still exists in that version.
It is still in the March release but I saw on the issues forum board that a fix should be out in the April update , so we have our finger's crossed for that one to resolve the issue
Just tested it in the latest version, seems to be working fine.

Sounds good, I'll report the issue through there. Thanks!
We're seeing the same issue. Strangely only happening on some of our data models and not on others ?!
