Fetching live data from Excel

Hello All,

I would like the PowerBI visualization to be updated everytime the data in the shared excel file changes.

The visualization got updated after by installing an On-premises data gateway (personal mode) and refreshing it every single time after a change. I also have an option to schedule the refresh.

I am looking for an option where-in the visualization gets updated every time the excel data changes and also would like to access it from thr on-prem PowerBI report server.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi @Hrishikesh_M ,

Sorry, the connection from Power BI to Excel only supports import mode. If you want to always viewing current data, you can try to connect the data in SQL Server from Power BI. There is a DirectQuery connection mode, you can learn about it.

@Hrishikesh_M , In the case of excel you have to schedule refresh that min 30 Min in case of Power bi Premium.

Or check out if streaming dataflows can help- https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/transform-model/dataflows/dataflows-streaming
