We are considering Power BI Desktop (on-premises) but I see many features
currently not available in May preview, ex: 'New Column'.
Is there a statement from Microsoft on when on-premises will have all features of cloud version?
Please let me know where I should inquire if this is not the appropriate venue.
Thanks
OK, I was connecting to a SSAS Tabular database,
once I connected to a SQL Server database the 'New Column' is enabled.
But back to my original question, is there a statement from Microsoft on feature
parity between 'On-premises' and 'Cloud' for Power BI?
For example, I don't see the 'Table Preview' visualisation.
Thanks
Hi @Michel8tor,
You connect to SSAS Tabular database in direct mode, right? There are many limitations, more deails, please review this article. As I tested, I am also unable to create column and measure under direct model.
Thanks,
Angelia
Thanks for looking at this,
I downloaded and use 'Microsoft Power BI Report Server - May 2017 Preview'.
Here is the URL where I got it:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55253
Here is a screenshot of the version:
Here's a screenshot with 'New Column' disabled.
Thanks
Hi @Michel8tor,
As I test it, I can create new column as the first screenshot.
And the version is as follows.
Best Regards,
Angelia
Hi @Michel8tor,
Do you use Power Bi desktop or Power Bi service? Could you please share a screenshot for further analysis?
Based on my understanding, you use Power BI may version, then publish it to service? But there is no "New Column" feature in may update version from this article.
Please post more details, so that we can post the solution which is close to what you want.
Best Regards,
Angelia
