Hello!
I'm trying to connect Power BI with Analysis Services, but failing in doing so, since connecting Excel to A.S. is ok for me.
When I type the server IP, I tried two ways:
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:1433
And the 2nd option is the one that works when connecting Power BI to SQL Server, being 1433 a port number.
I also select Import for the connection. And I'm using basic credentials (username and password). When I try the second option, I receive the following error: AnalysisServices: A connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running
If I select the 1st option, Power BI says that it wasn't possible to autenticate with the credentials.
What else can I do to connect Power BI with Analysis Services?
HI @ghlevin,
I can get data from AS datasource with both server name and ip address.
Did desktop and excel on same device? Which version of power bi you test?
Please provide more detailed information to help us clear your scenario.

Yes, Power BI Desktop and Excel are on the same device.
I'm using the current version of June 2018.
Hi @ghlevin,
Does AS server in same domain as device which runs power bi desktop? Current power bi seems only support to access same domain AS service.

Xiaoxin Sheng
