Facebook Insights

Is it possible to retrieve all Facebook Insights data (reach, impressions, consumers, consumptions, fans, likes, shares, comments, videos viewed, etc., etc...on page and post level) with Power BI? With the tutorial: Facebook analytics using Power BI Desktop I can only get a very limited data set, and I can not find any other solutions on the internet.

For now I use a free excel add-in from 'Analytics Edge' to import and refresh all the Facebook Insights tables automatically (>30 tables) > create model in Powerpivot > lmport this model into Power BI Desktop > Create a dashboard in Power BI. Can anyone tell me please how to build a direct connection with all Facebook Insights data tables so I can do all the steps in Power BI? Or is this not possible with Power BI?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Frank,

I'm looking for a solution for this problem as well. Have you been able to find a more direct solution that does not require local steps such as Excel?

    Kind regards,

    Tom

      Hi Tom,

I have contacted Power BI helpdesk by phone. They told me that it is not possible yet, but may be in future releases of Power BI.

So, for now I keep using the excell add-in Analytics Edge for quering all the Facebook Insights data.

If you need help with that, please let me know!

      Kind regards,

      Frank

        Hi Frank,

I came into this topic as I do have the same issue as you. However, I do not know how do you perform these steps locally ? Would you please give some detailed explanation of each step?

        Merry Christmas,

        Othmane

Thanks for your suggestion, but the links on that site doesn't work anymore, and someone there answered that OData is not available anymore for Facebook Insights. After googling, the same message appears elsewhere.

      Kind regards,
