Fabric Lakehouse Data Source Local Model Error

I am connected to a Fabric Lakehouse. I can add visuals and query the Lakehouse model successfully from PBI Desktop.

However, when I attempt to "Make Changes to this model" i.e., a DirectQuery connection, I receive the below ambiguous error "Something went wrong"

What am I doing wrong?

But I doubt that is supported yet. When you create connection you do get an option to use direct query connection
