Extra background on (New) Card visual that cannot be removed

Hello !

I’m using the Card visual in Power BI Desktop. There is an extra background layer behind the value that cannot be removed, regardless of turning off the General background or the Visual object backgrounds.

  • I can see the standards background layers options (General background and Visual object background). I can change their color or turn them off, and the visual updates correctly.

  • However, this third white background remains present, unchangeable, and cannot be controlled via the formatting pane. It is positioned between the Card background and the Visual background.

I have a screenshot showing this: on the left, the visual with the General background in green and the Card background in blue; on the right, the same visual with both backgrounds turned off. Even with no backgrounds, this extra layer remains. I also ensured that the field value/label has no background.

I was able to remove the extra background initially by switching to a theme that didn’t include it (I don't know why, but nothing is specified about this strange background.). However, when I try to customize the colors, Power BI prompts me to update the theme. After applying this update, the unwanted third background reappears, even though it was gone before.

I need help understanding where this extra background came from... and how to remove it...

Thank you in advance for your reply.

  • While I was carefully checking all the menus to look into this padding issue, I noticed that I hadn’t checked one particular menu: “Multiple cards layout”… and indeed, there was a background option in there that was enabled..!

About what I said regarding the themes.. this was a red herring… they were only activating this background setting for multiple cards, which also affected my single card…. I must have gotten a bit lost among all these scattered options, which all seem to do almost the same thing… almost.

Thank you very much for your help, it really made me take a closer look!
