External tool ribbon

Hello everyone

since the company I am working in is not allowing to install software like Dax Studio I have to work with a portable version to get the features of Dax studio.

Unfortuanly I don't see a external tool ribbon in Power Bi desktop.

is this because power bi doesn't find any installed external tools?

    hi joshua1990 - Yes, you need to have the latest version of Dax studio and Tabular Editor installed for them to appear under "External Tools", using the portal version will not enable it in Power BI; also this is available in Power BI from July 2020 version.

    joshua1990 , You need to be on power bi Desktop July 2020 and above and atleast one the external tool's latest version.

    As the official document said , Beginning with the July 2020 release of Power BI Desktop, you can use external tools to provide additional functionality and value to Power BI Desktop.
