Export to PowerPoint Losing Part of the Image

Hi. My report has this graduated colour banner at the bottom of each page.

When I export to PowerPoint a section on the right hand side is always missing. Why is this happening?

Hi @MJG2112 ,

I tested this scenario on my side by creating a similar layout and exporting the report to PowerPoint. In my case, the export is working as expected and the banner is not getting cut off.

Could you please confirm if you are using any remote desktop (RDP) or virtual environment while exporting? This can sometimes affect rendering behavior.

Thank you.

Hi @MJG2112,

Thank you for sharing this! The issue you're experiencing where the right-hand section of your graduated colour banner is missing after exporting to PowerPoint is a known rendering limitation in Power BI's export engine. Here are a few things to check and try:

**1. Check for Canvas Overflow**

The most common cause is that the banner element slightly exceeds the report canvas boundary. Even a few pixels over the edge can cause clipping during export. Try nudging the banner slightly inward and ensure it doesn't touch the right edge.

**2. Verify Report Page Size**

Go to **Format → Page size** and confirm your report is using a standard dimension (e.g., 16:9 or a custom size that matches your intended slide layout).

**3. Recreate the Banner as a Native Shape**

If your banner is an imported image (PNG/SVG), consider replacing it with a Power BI native shape using **gradient fill**. Native shapes tend to export more reliably than images.

**4. Use "Fit to Slide" Export Option**

When exporting, make sure you select the **"Fit to slide"** option to ensure the full canvas is captured.

**5. Workaround — Export as PDF First**

As a temporary workaround, export the report as a **PDF** and then convert it to PowerPoint. This often preserves visual elements more accurately.

Hope one of these resolves the issue! Let us know how it goes.

Hello @MJG2112

This happens because when exporting from Microsoft Power BI to Microsoft PowerPoint, the report gets slightly scaled to fit the slide, so anything placed too close to the right edge gets cut off.

To fix it, just move your banner a little inward and avoid placing visuals exactly at the edge, or use a standard 16:9 page size so everything fits properly during export.
