Export published report into excel template

I have a BI Report I'm looking to publish out to a larger group.  Part of the report will have a table with data in it that I'd like the end user to be able to export directly to an excel template.  Is this possible?  From what I see, when the end user exports, it goes straight to a save option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @unknown917, you can use Power Automate to export data from Power BI report to Excel - Power BI Export Buttons (databear.com). Be aware that data you export from Power BI will go trhough a loop (i.e. row by row), therefore I would reccomend this approach only when you need to export a limited amount of rows.

In case you need to export a lot of data in a standartized way, you can use Power Query directly in Excel - Excel Power Query tutorial for beginners: how to get, use and auto-refresh (ablebits.com)

Good luck with your project! 🙂

Thanks, @Sergii24 - the key here is I was curious if I could export into an established worksheet, instead of just exporting the data out to a new file.

Yes, you can 🙂 Take a look at some tutorials online on using Power Query in Excel (there are plenty of them!), it should asnwer most of your questions 😉

Good luck with your project!
