Export Underlying Data

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with the export data functionality within Power BI. I have a series of reports that are connected to SSAS via Live Connection. I have enabled the "Allow end users to export both summarized and underlying data from the service or report server" for all reports. Additionally, I have restricted the Export data and Export to Excel tenant level setting to a specific subset of users.

The users in this group are able to export summarized data, however, the underlying data option is greyed out (You don't have permission to export underlying data).

The weird thing is that I am able to export both summarized and underlying data without issue. Anyone have a suggestion on what may be causing this issue?

Thanks for the help.

Ok, I was able to figured it out.... I had to enable build permissions on the dataset for the users who need to extract the underlying data.

Thanks for replying with your findings. Helped me out!!

Hi @samd724 ,

Yes, you need build permission for the dataset to export the data. please consider mark your answer as the solution to help the other members find it more quickly.

For many other limitations, please refer to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-visualization-export-data
