Hello tecumseh ,
This is a preview feature and to use this feature you need access to Microsoft Fabric and also your My Workspace must be assigned to a Fabric or trial capacity. Once your workspace is assigned to Fabric, choose an online destination:
The following list contains the supported data destinations:
- Azure SQL databases
- Azure Data Explorer (Kusto)
- Azure Datalake Gen2 (preview)
- Fabric Lakehouse Tables
- Fabric Lakehouse Files (preview)
- Fabric Warehouse
- Fabric KQL database
- Fabric SQL database
- SharePoint Files

Thanks anilelmastasi
My Workspace shows as Fabric Trial Workspace
Not sure why. Licese Info on some other workspaces shows as F64 Capacity.
Is Facric Trial good enough to use the Export Query Results feature?
Thanks,w

Hi tecumseh ,
Yes a Fabric Trial Workspace is sufficient to use the Export Query Results feature, but it must be correctly enabled and tied to Fabric capacity. If you’re seeing “Unable to fetch data destinations,” it usually means either the preview feature isn’t turned on in Power BI Desktop or your workspace isn’t properly linked to Fabric capacity. Microsoft confirms that both Fabric trial and Fabric capacity workspaces can use this feature.
Verify Preview Feature is Enabled
In Power BI Desktop, go to File > Options and settings > Options > Preview Features.
Check Export Queries from Power Query. Restart Power BI Desktop if needed.Confirm Workspace Capacity
In the Power BI service, check that your workspace is assigned to Fabric Trial or F64 Capacity.
Trial capacity is valid, but if the workspace isn’t properly linked, destinations won’t appear.Check Destination Permissions
Ensure you have access rights to the chosen destination (e.g., Azure SQL DB, Fabric Lakehouse). If permissions are missing, the list may fail to load.
Hope this helps.
