Export AWS Security Hub data to PowerBI

hi there,

I am relatively new to PowerBI and got the task in my company to automate all the reports we make. I am part of the SOC team so we monitor many security dashboards. One of the monitoring systems we make monthly reports of is the AWS security hub. I would like to export these findings from the security hub to PowerBI. I would love for this to be automated rather than me having to download monthly json files of the findings to import into powerbi manually. I have looked at the connection options that PowerBI offers which are Athena and S3 bucket but the security hub findings aren't in those databases.

Is there anyone that has done something like this succesfully?

Hi @Anonymous ,

According to your description, you need to deploy Microsoft Power BI Desktop in AWS Cloud. There are three ways you can use as reference:

  • Install Microsoft Power BI Desktop on an Amazon EC2 instance
  • Install Microsoft Power BI in an Amazon WorkSpaces environment
  • Install Microsoft Power BI in an Amazon AppStream 2.0 environment

For more details, you can read related document.

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and let me know immediately. Looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards,
Henry

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. It takes a while for my company to implement things but I am starting to put this in motion. So I already accepted it as solution. Next to that I spoke to an aws specialist  and he suggested the following:

Just wanted to add it for those coming to this topic.

Hi, I'm trying to use this method, just wanted to know if it worked for your team

Hi @Anonymous ,
