Exclusive report location wise

Hi there!

So the company that I'm working in has only one microsoft account through which every power bi report gets published. It has multiple regions like chicago Philadelphia etc. I want each site to have exclusive view ( meaning chicago can't view philadelphia's report so on and so forth). I've synced filters and used text filters and set up passwords for each site. First of all on the first page where user can select site once he types in his code all options are available on the slicer I want the slicer to be empty and show only the selected site secondly I don't want previously selected options to appear in the text filter or the slicer.

Thanks

Isn't there a way a user inputs a code(Text filter) for a specific location and automatically based on that code the report gets filtered according to it?

That's pretty much what Row Level Security (RLS) does except it relies on the user's login info for filtering rather than having them input a code (which wouldn't be a secure way to do this).

I know but I'm limited by the fact that the firm has only one microsoft account.

Hang on... A single service account for publishing all the reports is not an issue here. Are you saying that everyone viewing the reports is also sharing a single account?

If so, this is a violation of your Power BI licensing agreement and you should not expect people to help you find workarounds for things like RLS that work fine when users are licensed properly.

No no thats not what I meant. The reports are just published online. There's no liscening issue here. That's how others view it, they don't have power bi access on the web only the admin does.

I'm not following. Do your users have a paid license (whether Pro, PPU, or Premium Capacity) or not?

If the users have licenses, then they should be able to view the report on the web using their individual credentials and RLS is the solution. If the users don't have licenses, then they shouldn't have access to the report in the online Power BI Service at all unless it's published to the web publicly where anyone with an internet connection can view it.

its published to the web

Is the report published in the Premium Service? If the report readers have different accounts then you can use RLS:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/enterprise/service-admin-rls

Otherwise you will have to split the report by location, e.g. with M parameters:
