Hi,
I am trying to establish a connection with an excel file via Web Connection shared with me on onedrive but, it has thrown an error saying file contains corrupted data. What could be the problem here?
Solved! Go to Solution.
The Excel Workbook had a password on it. Removing that password somehow resolved the issue.
Hi @ziyabikram96 ,
There may be an issue about the Power BI Desktop. You may need to install and reinstall the latest version of Power BI Desktop, see the similar cases :File contains corrupted data.
Best Regards,

There won't be anythong in data transformation mode as there is no data source. The problem occurs at the very first step where you have to copy the URL of that excel file.
I also tried to connect to the same file locally but it threw the same error. I guess, the problem is with the excel file.
Check out the November 2025 Power BI update to learn about new features.
