Error while opening Power BI Desktop (.pbix) file

Some of the users with whom I'm sharing the Power BI (.pbix) files are facing difficulties while opening it. They're getting the error that the file has been created in a newer version and cannot open. However, when they go through the error messages they're eventually able to open the file. 

I've suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the app, however, that didn't work. Moreover, they're getting constant app updates. 

Any idea on why this popup might be coming up?

    Hi Anonymous 

    I was experiencing the same issue recently. The way I fixed this issue was by installing PowerBI desktop from this location here. Click download and select the _x64.exe option.

    Hopefully this should also fix your issue.

    You saved my life.

    I had an error when opening any existing BI file, I tried several ways and this was the only one that worked!
