Solved

Error returned: 'The following system error occurred: Error in the DLL'.

Just started using Power BI Desktop and facing an issue with clean setup:

  1. Open Power BI Desktop
  2. Click "Pasta data into a blank table" (or excel, python script option, etc. does not seem to be different)
  3. Enter any value into table, click "Load"
  4. Application loads for a bit and then presents error:

Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'The following system error occurred: Error in the DLL'.

Tried restarting PC, reinstalling Power BI Desktop from Microsoft store. Seems something is broken/corrupted, but no idea what.

    Hi VincasRama ,

As far as I know, the Power BI Desktop version from Microsoft store should be a test version for next version.

So there may be some problems when you are using it.

Here I suggest you to download the latest version from website. In myside, I have a test from this version and it works.

Also you can refer to this offical blog to learn more details about Enter Data in Power BI.

Thanks, installing it from web downloads fixed the issue!

  • That doesn't look like a standard menu. What version of Power BI Desktop are you using?

    Should look like this:

Whatever was latest in MS Store, but apparently that is not stable and using web download fixed the issue
