Error publishing a report
I am trying publishing a report that I could previously publish with no problem. Now I am getting this:
Any idea what that might be?
Thanks
Hi Markzolotoy ,
It seems that your admin account have closed the permission of create new workspace for you. You can turn it off. It means now it is in premium capacity. If you turn it off, you can move "My workspace" to shared capacity.

lbendlin I think here is what's happening. My company does have some Power BI service. I now don't remember, but I think was able to publish a report and a dashboard. These that today are not working anymore.
I have then requested a Power BI Pro license because I wanted to develop an embedded solution. When I started working on it I realized that I also needed some dedicated capacity for it. I knew it was going to take a long time to get it and decided to get it paying by myself. I bought the smallest capacity on pay as you you go basis assuming it was going to be a pretty small amount to pay. However that wasn't what I thought. Charges started coming in even though I wasn't developing anything. It was explained to me that I was getting charged for Power BI embedded Services which are a flat rate based. I I have canceled my capacity right away. So, I think that's why it's complaining now. What I don't understand is how I was able to publish and run my test reports before getting into embedded part and buying my capacity. I should say that this stuff is very confusing.

for some reason you cannot access the Power BI service from your Power BI Desktop app. Does https://app.powerbi.com still work for you?

lbendlin Not really. I can access my workspace (it's my company's). But when I run a few test reports it complaints about data source.

lbendlin Here are the details when I click on my data source in Power BI:

yes, looks like it. Is this Premium or Shared capacity? If Premium, do you know who the capacity/tenant admin is?

Hi Markzolotoy ,
Can you login power bi service by the account you login on the desktop? If you have a pro license , you can create new app workspace to hold your report.
And you can use A SKU for your situation(Billed when you use it): https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/developer/embedded/embedded-capacity

I already have my own workspace where I was able to create a dashboard and a report. After that I bought an A1 capacity to work on embedded solution. After realizing that Pay as You Go means different things for and Microsoft I have canceled my A1 subscription. I don't think I tried my test reports after that (unfortunately) and now when I am doing it nothing works. I have a feeling that after cancelling my personal subscription that was tied to company's Pro license things stopped working. So the question is how did it work at the beginning when I didn't have my capacity?

Hi Markzolotoy ,
You can use shared capacity. What is the workspace are you trying to publish to? Is it my workspace? Now, I sugget you create a new workspace with premium capacity off. And when you publish the report to the power bi service , select the new workspace.

When I edit my workspace I see this:
What happens if I turn it off? What does "This workspace is part of the capacity" mean?
