Error (model cannot be loaded) after saving a report to PBIP and reopening the same file

I downloaded a report from a workspace and saved it as pbip-file. (The report has a live link to a dataset in the workspace.)

When I open the pbip-file, i immediately get an error that the model cannot be loaded. It talks about 'analysis services', but the datasource is a dataset and has nothing to do with analysis services.

Opening the original downloaded pbix-file is no problem. It's only after saving it as pbip-file that it doesn't work anymore.

I can redefine the datasource and then it works, but as soon as I close and reopen the file, I receive the same message again.

Any idea why this is happening? Is it not possible to save a report with live connection as pbip-file?

Hi @ChristopheB - When changing a model that uses Direct Query to connect a Power BI dataset or Analysis Services model, you must update the ChangedProperties and PBI_RemovedChildren collection for the changed object to include any modified or removed properties. If ChangedProperties and/or PBI_RemovedChildren isn't updated, Power BI Desktop may overwrite any changes the next time the query is edited or the model is refreshed in Power BI Desktop.Refering to:Power BI Desktop projects (PBIP) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Hope it helps

Hi @rajendraongole1 , Thank you for your help.

I don't understand. I am not changing anything to the model?

I download a report from a workspace.

I save the report as pbip.

I get the error.

The report is indeed using a live connection to a dataset (semantic model) in the workspace.

When and in which file should I make changes regarding ChangedProperties?
