Error message connecting to MySQL

Choosing MySQL database in the Get Data dialogue window returns a message "This connector requires one or more additional components to be installed before it can be used." I clicked Learn More and installed the connector at that link. When I reattempted a connection Power BI returned the same message.

    Hi  Anonymous ,

From the error message, it looks like you didn't install the correct MySQL connector successfully. You can download the ODBC Driver for MySQL(connector/ODBC) from below link, this connector worked well in my environment.

Or download x64 bit MySQL connector and install yourself.

I am having the same issue. I can confirm that I have Power BI 64 bit installed (from the Help menu). I can also confirm that I have the X64 architecture installed for both MySQL Workbench and Connector/ODBC under MySQL Installer.

Yet I am still getting the error when trying to connect Power BI to MySQL: "This connector requires one or more additional components to be installed before it can be used." So WHAT component does it think I need, and how do I find out? This link under "Learn more' just takes me to the place where I installed the connector in the first place.

      Any suggestions?

      Thanks in advance.
