Hi
When I open PowerBi I get this error message:
ActiveX control '8856f961-340a-11d0-a96b-00c04fd705a2' cannot be instantiated because the current thread is not in a single-threaded apartment.
If I cancel the error I can still open reports etc - Doesn't happen when I open PowerBI on my laptop, just my desktop.
Reinstalled PowerBi and still same error?
Any ideas
Thanks!

Hi @RedWineGirl ,
An internal ICM has been created.

Best Regards,

For anyone else with this error, I had a simlar error in PowerShell - notably, same ActiveX control #. Solution was to run as admin in powershell:
Get-WindowsCapability -Name RSAT* -Online | Add-WindowsCapability -Online
Appears it was an out of date AD componant in RSAT.

Hello,
i'm facing with same issue.
Did you solve this?
Thanks,
Cosmin
No - with so many having the same issue, seems to be a problem with the June version. Hopefully fixed in next version? If someone has access to tehir weblogs it might show where the error is? I don't have access to mine easily
try this:
may 2022 version, it seems it works:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=58494
I run the same version: 2.106.582.0 64-bit (June 2022).
I downgraded back to the Version of March, but got still this issue
Updated my Version yesterday to the June Release (2.106.582.0 (22.06) (x64)) and got the same Error on every startup. Complete uninstall und clean install didn't solve the issue.
I'm in an corporate network context.
I only get the error in the office - not at home with the same version/laptop. Doesn't stop PowerBi working luckily
Version: 2.106.582.0 64-bit (June 2022) - Thanks
I'm using the same Version and encounter the same issue.
SO this is a strange one -
so it seems to be affected by being in work only???
@RedWineGirl I think this is something to do with the office network. Again I am guessing. You can raise a support ticket with Microsoft Power BI team. They will address this issue.
I have also checked with few other users of Power BI whom I know. None of them are facing any issue including mine.
Thank you!
Thanks - glad it's not just me 🙂
Ok. I am too using the same version but didn't faced any.
This issue occured earlier but it got fixed in Nov 2017 release. Here are the links:
https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Power-BI-ActiveX-Error/m-p/293016#M129183
May be you could uninstall the Power BI completely and then do a fresh install. Hope this solves the problem.
@RedWineGirl Did it worked ?
