    It looks like the issue is specific to the March 2025 release of Power BI Desktop when running on Parallels/macOS.

Hi jay-rad 

Unfortunately, Microsoft does not officially support Power BI Desktop on macOS, even when using virtualization tools like Parallels. While it may have worked well for you for over a year, unexpected issues—like the one you're facing now—can arise due to the unsupported setup.

Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Reinstall the virtualization tool you're using (Parallels) or consider switching to a fresh setup.

  2. Fully uninstall and reinstall Power BI Desktop, not just update it.

  3. Try running Power BI Desktop inside a clean Windows VM (e.g., via VirtualBox or directly on a Windows machine if possible).

  4. If your colleagues with Windows devices aren't experiencing the issue, it likely confirms the environment (Mac + virtualization) is the root cause.

I have this exact issue on the May 2025 release.  I am using Microsoft Surface Pro 11.  The issue seems to be isolated to when the Date Slicer setting is set to Between or After.

    Thanks for adding your issue here too, I'm surprised its happening on a Windows machine as well. 

     

    All of my date slicers will be between as well, but next time I have a report open I'll check what happens if I change it to a different option.

     

    Do you also have a PowerShell/ Terminal window pop up for a second or two before it then errors?

    Also, as a workaround I have 2 versions of PowerBI installed. One from the Microsoft store which is the latest so I can open reports created by colleagues and are no longer compatible with the old version.

     

    I then have February 2025 installed separately which I downloaded directly from the Microsoft website. 

     

    Not ideal, but at least I can do most of my work on the old version.
