Error connecting from Power BI Desktop to Azure Analysis Services

Hi everyone,

I deployed my tabular model from a windows machine that is not joined to any domain, to Azure Analysis Services, the deployment does not have any issue apparently. But when I try to connect from Power BI what I get is an Unexpected Error stating:

"An error occurred while loading the model for the item or data source 'OpenConnectionError'. Verify that the connection information is correct and that you have permissions to access the data source."

The data source is an Azure SQL Database, when I developing I connect using credentials that I created for that database, but because I am developing in a standalone machine, I use my local user for impersonation credentials. Could this be the problem?

What should I use for impersonation in this case if so?

Thanks in advance for the help.

@Anonymous,

Thanks for your reply. I do use the last version of Power BI, although the problem I had was related to the non-use of Active Directory user to connect to the Azure Analysis Services. What I mean is that I needed to use Active Directory for the Azure Analysis Services too, as it is a requirement for the on-premise.

@wosscr,

Do you use the February update of Power BI Desktop? The same issue has been occured in January update of Power BI Desktop, however, this issue has been fixed.
