This seems to be a issue with the march release of power BI. Try revertong to Feb release
Oh, that's interesting. Maybe all dev energy is put into Fabric and PBI Desktop will become obsolete one day - which would make it OS-agnostic. But until then ...?
Hello to all possibly affected or interested - it seems that in the May 2026 release of PBI Desktop this is solved! I have had the workaround of using an old version of PBI Desktop for the affected data model and reports. With that, the issue did not hurt so much. Instead I had a frustration at the back of my mind that I could not give priority to opening a ticket to Microsoft on this and one day I will end up with an unsupported (too old) version of PBI Desktop and not being able to edit or publish my model any more.
So anyway, I will be keeping an eye on this but hopefully it is over now!
