Encrypted Fields in Table of Sql Server Database.

Hi Every one,

 

I have few Encrypted columns in my table of database,means my data is encrypted no one can able to see the data without using encryption password, It is fully secured. My question is can i use those fields to develop my PBI Report, if i created that report can i able to see the data. Any body have idea on this........

@PSBR,

I made a test before, it is not possible to read decrypted data in Power BI. After you import the encrypted fields into Power BI, you will not be able to see these fields in Data view unless you transform the binary columns to text columns in Query Editor of Power BI Desktop, but please note that the text columns still contain encrypted data. See this similar thread.


If you need to read decrypted data in Power BI, you would need to firstly decryped the fields in SQL Server , and then import data to Power  BI.

Hi,

 

I'm using MySQL with Power BI and trying to import decrypted value but it was showing data as Binary. I used CAST function to convert Binary into CHAR and then it works for me.
