Enabling multi-select in dashboard visuals without holding CTRL

No, as far as I know, what you are asking for is not possible. To select elements from multiple visuals at the same time you would have to hold CTRL. Maybe add a note under the dashboard title or above the visuals where they will be clicking?

Super UserI don't know why that would be. It is working for me on a published report. I select the left bar, then hold ctrl and click the right bar and the bottom table has both filters applied.
