Empty report on Power BI Desktop

When working on a Power BI Desktop report (.pbix file) on SharePoint version 198.0, all report pages are gone.
I have a single blank page 1.

The data model is there, tables, measures, calculation groups, etc.

What could have happened and how to fix this?
Sure, I can roll back to a previous version, but I'd like to keep my work.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, If the file itself is corrupted (not just a display glitch), there is unfortunately no way to restore report pages from the current .pbix file. Only data model content is preserved; visuals must be rebuilt.

Possible causes:

  • File got corrupted when saving or syncing (especially via SharePoint)
  • Bug in the Power BI version you’re using
  • Save didn’t complete properly and pages got wiped

Possible fixes:

  • Make a copy of the broken file so you can work on it safely
  • Check SharePoint/OneDrive version history or auto-saved copies
  • Try opening it in an older Power BI Desktop version
  • If visuals are really gone, you’ll need to rebuild pages from the data model

Hi @webportal

This usually means the report layout got corrupted while saving from SharePoint-the model is still there, but all pages/visuals were wiped. Try this: download the PBIX and open it locally in the latest Power BI Desktop; check if pages are just hidden (right-click the page bar >>Show hidden pages). If it’s still blank, restore a previous version of the file from SharePoint Version history-that’s the only reliable way to get the pages back. After restoring, Save As a new file, keep a local backup, and avoid editing the PBIX directly from SharePoint or by multiple people at once.
