Email Alert if the dataset got updated.
Hi all,
Is there any way to get the email / sms notification, if the dataset has get updated or a new row is added to the datset.

You could add a subscription in the Service. That sends an email whenever the report refreshes. Also, you could create a dashboard with a tile of the count of rows in your dataset and set an Alert on it to be over any amount that is lower than the total count. Alerts are only sent if the data changes.
My particular use case requires me to send an alert / email to another user when a new row is added to a local Excel sheet. How exactly would this be possible?
In the workaround Greg_Deckler has suggested, this would require me to iteratively go back to the alert and update the threshold value every time my alert is triggered. Is my understanding correct?

When you use email subscription feature or data alert feature in your report, only you can receive email, the users that you shared dashboard to will not be able to get email when data is changed.
