Editable field, rows level security

Hey guys,

1. What is my dataset used for:

We have sales representatives in our company, each has its own clients and there specific data we need to share with them about the clients. Until now, we were sending an excel copy to each of them (e.g. do SR A we send clients A,B,C,D and to SR B we send clients E,F,G,H). This process is too complicated, so now I want to send a table in Power BI, set rows level security for each role = each of the sales reps. and share the Workplace to them so each can see only their data.

Now, that is not such a big deal, except I need to get the Pro version for that, right?

And second part of the question is, if it is somehow possible to collect data from the user in the Power BI directly.

The dream scenario would be something like the table below

Client Est. SalesYour notes
Mc John

$458

Mrs Lala

$685

The idea is simple. The users - the Sales Reps. - would look at the table and see data from a dataset but there was a column, where they can input their data - in this case, they would type in, "No, it will be close to $600, because we are planning to expand the portfolio".

I think you get the idea.

I understand that it may not be in this form, typing directly in the table, so maybe some workaround - basically to comes down to find the way how to collect data - any way possible. Maybe if there was just an empty field, where they would Type in the name of the client and add the notes and then it would be saved somewhere else. I don't mind manually getting the data from different locations (maybe if it is saved to some online excel file) and inputting into the tables through back-end myself. I just need to have the option to collect data directly from the Power BI so it is easy to look at the Dashboard and just type in the notes.

I hope it makes sense, thank you very much 🙂

Hi @krivanec ,

For the first question, yes, you can share reports with external users if you have pro license. But if the external users do not have pro license, you will need a premium licence so that they can see the shared report.

For the second question, you may check the document obout Comments in Power BI.
