Dynamics 365 CRM data from PBI Desktop
Hi channa43 ,
Great question! There are a few supported ways to bring Dynamics 365 CRM (Dataverse) data into Power BI Desktop, and the right choice depends on your needs. The safest and most effective way to bring Dynamics 365 CRM data into Power BI Desktop is via the Dataverse connector. It’s fully supported, respects security roles, and works with both Import (best for performance + Incremental Refresh) and DirectQuery.
For large-scale analytics, consider the new Link to Microsoft Fabric, which creates a Lakehouse + SQL endpoint for Direct Lake scenarios.
You can also use the TDS (SQL) endpoint for read-only SQL access, but avoid legacy connectors.
Avoid Legacy Connectors
Don’t use old “CDS” or “Dynamics 365 (Online) (Legacy)” connectors, as these are deprecated.
