Dynamic reference layer in ArcGIS

Hi everyone,

I have made a custom reference layer that is available in Power BI ArcGIS visualization. My problem is that this custom reference layer consists of a grid that I want to change color based on data contained in Power BI.

For example, in the image below, you can see that the first two squares of my grid have a square in it that change his color based on data from a table (my fact table).

Grid with squares inside

My question is: Is it possible, instead of having these squares inside the grid's squares, to make the grid's squares change their color based on data from Power BI?

Here is the desired result:

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Hi evolu6ion ,

Based on my test and researching, I think it can't be implement to change color based on data from Power BI without squares in ArcGIS. Currently, it is the best way to use a square to display color.

    Best Regards,

    Xue Ding

      Hi v-xuding-msft ,

      Thanks for your answer.

So if I understand you correctly, this means that in order to have the squares being displayed with different colors depending on data, I have to insert the data directly in ArcGIS (Pro or Online) and do the formatting outside of Power BI?

      Many thanks for your help.

With the answer from v-xuding-msft and my further researches, I would suggest that it is definitely not possible to make the reference layer change some of its squares based on data in Power BI. If the layer fits specific area (such as postal codes or so), it is possible, but not with custom reference layer that display as in my example squares with no geospecific borders.

If anybody has a solution to make this custom reference layer adjusts its color based on data in Power BI, your help will be greatly appreciated.

        Thanks in advance.
