So far, i dont think it's possible to achieve, but you could introduce for end-users drill-down with hierarchy buttons in the top left of charts.

Obviously not as elegant and intuitive as using slicers but workable. Thanks.

I do think it's possible but can be a little complicated.I know this thread is old... but just incase there are others like me that were searching for a solution and found this first, I thought I'd share how to get around this.
It involves making a new table with a CROSSJOIN... I've made a video showing how to do it here:
