Dual Storage Mode
Hi all,
Using PBI Desktop Report Server 2.93 May, 2021.
I have 1 table that is in Direct Query Mode to SQL Server
Now I would like to import a small table
But when I try to import the new table, PBI warns that the other table will will be swtiched to Import Mode
How do I stop this so I have 1 table in Direct Query Mode and the other Import Mode?
Thanks,
-w

UncleLewis , Do not use recent sources. Configure it like a new connection and try. Also try to use August 2021.

Thanks Amitchandak,
I sent a request to our software distribution team to check on upgrade of PBI Desktop.
To get data from an Excel Workbook as a new Data Source in Import Mode I did:
Get Data >> Excel >> Select File >> Select Sheet1 from the wb >> Transform
This is where I get the warning: Switch to Import Mode. Thanks,

UncleLewis it is ok to get the warning message since excel will be always in import mode and asking if you want another source in import too, it is just a warning and say No to it.
This is supported in May 2021 if you don't get to the latest version, although always preferred to the latest version but this feature is quite old now and should work with May 2021 release.

Thanks Parry2K,
The only buttons available on the Switching to Import Mode Dialog are Switch or Cancel.
If I cancel, the Excel wb is not imported.
If I Switch, The DQ Table will be imported.
Are there other settings or options I need to look at?
Thanks,-w

UncleLewis I'm a bit confused, as a matter of fact, you shouldn't get that warning. Are you merging DQ table with import table?

Thanks Parry2k,
No, not trying to merge tables.
Just trying to have 2 Tables in the model for now.
One table is Direct Query Mode. The other table is Import Mode.
Thanks,

UncleLewis I just tested at my end and not even getting the warning message anymore which I expected and I tested it in April 2021 (prior to the version you are using), not sure why you are getting that message. Can you confirm the Power BI version again?

Thanks Parry2K,
I'm using Power BI Desktop Report Server
Version 2.93 May, 2021.
Could this be a setting set by Corp Power BI Admin?
Thanks,
