Drillthrough - relevant data is changing

I am trying to visually compare 2 large data sets - each has over 400 rows and 30 columns of data. I have my reports set up to show on a large scale what I am trying to compare, but when I go to drillthrough to see more detail, I run into issues. Basically, each report will need to show slightly different data in the drillthrough (different columns of data in my case). I was hoping that I could just have on template set up for drillthrough that can easily be changed to show what I need, but I can't figure out how. Is this even possible to do, or do I need to set up different drillthrough pages for each report to ensure I see the relevant data for that report?
