If you're using the built in Power BI map, it uses Bing maps for geocoding. Lat and Long will be the most robust if you want to specify the location of each point at each level, otherwise ensure you set the data categorization: https://excelwithallison.blogspot.com/2021/07/tokyo-olympics-data-category-in-power-bi.html to help Power BI plot the correct locations (use Bing maps as a guide for which names to use)

thanks for responding...
X and Y take only 1 attribute... so for which level should I take the coordinate...
higher or lower levels... or is there a way to include multiple levels of coordinate?
and can coordinate shape a full shape, not just a point?

Anonymous There is a new Shape Map visual that's in preview mode right now that allows you to use states as shapes, not just dots, but this doens't allow drill down at the moment. You could add your feedback in Power BI ideas.
Otherwise you can use the filled map - again those regions are based off Bing Maps but I haven't had much success using Lat and Long with those, so you'd be better to use the names of the regions as Bing views.
