Drag handle pushing visuals down

Hey Marsbars,

The ≡ handle you are seeing is part of the on-object interaction experience (and/or the Modern visual defaults preview rolling out with FabCon). It's a new authoring affordance designed to make visuals easier to grab and move but it is rendered as UI chrome above the visual container, which is why your header bar layout gets shoved down while you're in edit mode.

Workarounds:

1. Turn off On-object interaction

   • File → Options and settings → Options → Preview features → uncheck On-object interaction → restart Desktop.
   • This is the most common culprit. Disabling it reverts you to the classic Visualizations pane and removes the on-object handle.

2. Turn off Modern visual defaults (if enabled)

   • Same path: File → Options → Preview features → uncheck Modern visual defaults.
   • The Fluent 2 refresh changes padding and header behavior; turning it off restores prior spacing.

3. Check the Modern visual header toggle

   • File → Options → Current file → Report settings → under Visual options, toggle "Use the modern visual header with updated styling options".
   • Try it both on and off — on some March builds, flipping this resolves the container-header offset.

4. Use exact X/Y positioning instead of visual drag alignment

   • Select each header visual → Format pane → General → Properties → Position.
   • Set identical Y values and fixed Height for all filters/slicers in your header row. This makes the alignment immune to any edit-mode chrome — the 55px handle becomes a non-issue because you're not visually eyeballing alignment anymore.

5. Service-side check

   • Open the same report in the Power BI Service in edit mode. Some users report the handle behaves differently there (or isn't present), which can help you pinpoint whether it's a Desktop-only rendering quirk.
