Donut chart - Spacing

Good afternoon everyone,

 

I have a rather simple problem.

When creating a donut chart, Power BI draws a very big chart area in which it display a tiny donut and a legend.

I essentially want to resize my donut to use that wasted space and eliminate these margins around the donut and between the donut and the legend. Excel provide a control enabling user to rezise the chart and move the legend closer to the chart but it does not seem possible in Power BI.

 

Addtionally, the massive margins prevent me from placing the donut in the shape close to an edge... 

 

I searched online and removed all extra content as suggested in other posts, but the margins are still very large and preventing me from placing the chart at the center of the shape. At this point, if I resize my chart area to fit in the shape, it become way too small.

 

Any ideas? Or tips? 

 

Note: I will not be able to recreate the legend, I have too many charts like these to make.

    Unfortunately, it did not resolve the issue. I tried with some solutions on the marketplace but there are no really good alternatives. I still get my chart stuck on the side of the canvas because of the massive margins.

     

    I provided feedback to Microsoft hoping it will not fall in deaf ears.

     

    I am taking any other relevant tips!

    Hi Help_me_please ,

    Thank you for your question. I understand that you want to optimize the space used by the donut chart and its legend within your report. I have some suggestions here that I hope will be of some help to you:

    1. Click on the donut chart to select it and you will see handles around the chart that you can drag to resize the chart area. Try to make the chart area as large as possible within the boundaries of where you want it to be.
    2. In the "Format" pane, look for the "General" section. Adjust the "Inner padding" slider to reduce the space between the donut chart and the legend.
    3. With the donut chart still selected, go to the "Format" pane on the right side. Scroll down to the "Legend" section. Here, you can adjust the position of the legend by selecting options like "Top", "Bottom", "Right", or "Left”. You can also adjust the legend's size by changing the "Text size" property.
    4. Unfortunately, Power BI does not provide direct control over the plot area like Excel does. However, you can try to adjust the size of the visual itself and the legend to indirectly control the plot area.
    5. If the default donut chart does not meet your needs, you might want to explore custom visuals available in the Power BI Visuals Marketplace that offer more control over spacing and layout.
