Does anyone encounter extremely high usage from Power BI CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess?

Hey all,

I've been working in Power BI for quite awhile and previously isolated a server for usage of the x64 version of the product using the download version. (Win Server doesn't have Windows Store so couldn't use that version)

The team I work on has been asked to transition to using Power BI (Windows store version) from our machines which are i5 6400U laptops with around 20 GBs of ram; however, what I'm seeing is even working on just one report that Power BI Desktop takes up about %52 - %80 cpu usage constantly (not even when performing designs). The vast majority of the processing does appear to be from CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess which is more or less emulating the Power BI service and I see former issues like this where the team found memory leaks, but in this case it's more just CPU.

Is there anything anyone has as far as recommendations such as AV recommendations or other things that I can do to work through this? I've scoured the internet and most people just say get a better machine, is this the only way or are there any tricks that the community has found to improve performance like this.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @cvillegas

Desktop uses Chromium to render the visuals, the Chromium rendering process is named "cefSharp.BrowserSubprocess.exe".

At present I have not found an effective way to deal with high usage from Power BI CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess . But you can try to improve the performance of the Power Bi desktop when you use it .
