    hi Pallavi,

Actually it is exactly opposite. You cannot define rls on SSAS specifically. Using SSAS as a source for power bi has an advantage that ione is not required to define any security on the model. It simply carries forward the security of analysis services in terms of roles & permission as is.

    Pallavi,

No matter which data sources you get data from, you can configure RLS for the their data models in Power BI Desktop as long as you choose "import" mode to load data into Power BI. And you can also configure RLS on datasets that are using DirectQuery, such as SQL Server. However, please note that when you use "Connect to Live" mode to connect to SSAS, you are not able to configure RLS for the data model in Power BI, you can configure Row-level security on the on-premises model.

        Pallavi,

The dynamic RLS described in the second article is configured by creating role to restrict data on the on-premises SSAS model.

The RLS described in the first article is for all the data model imported into Power BI Desktop, and it is configured in Power BI Desktop.
