Display problem on a matrix

Hello,

I created a matrix on power BI Desktop. My concern is that the dimension columns remain fixed and I can't see the data (values) or with great difficulty.
How can I get a global view of the matrix?

Thank you in advance.

Hello @mimi1255,

Space utilization is a challenge we have to face while creating BI dashboard/reports and it shall be true for any BI tool, including Power BI.

You can utilize the features available in Power BI, such as Drill mode and Drill up and down can take you to high or lower level of information. Better if your data model is dimensional model, wherein your fact table related with multiple dimensions.

Other than this, there further more some features, such as drill trhough from which you can navigate to other page (for selected data as needed).

Sometimes, as a report developer we want to give user all the option premade, but it may become too much. You may add some key item as dimension in this visual and allow to personalize the report by user. Later user may add some additonal column or remove not needed ones and view the report. They may or may not save the personilzed report.

So there are such options and you need to find accetable in your situations. Else, as @amitchandak indicated, you may choose to keep most items collapsed.

Hi @mimi1255 ,

What do you mean by matrix global view? For the large number of data fields used in your matrix visual, once too many fields are added, the system will choose to scroll to show more data. So it may not be possible to fully display all the data in the view window.

You can filter out the fields according to your business needs and perhaps display them more comprehensively.

Looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards,
Henry

@mimi1255 , do not expand all columns or use stepped layout (check in the format property of visual )
