Hi ,
Can you please suggest if there is any way in which we can display/cast report to TV without needing to impersonate as a user ?
Thanks
Hi, you can use Fugo.ai to do this. They have a PowerBI integration that allows the dashboard screen to display on the TV
I had this issue too. Was tasked with providing the floor with real time sales reporting updates and found the best way would be to set up a large screen in the work area displaying PowerBI stats. Getting it set up was harder than expected though.
I found three solutions that worked.
1. Directly connect a laptop to the TV screen I used as a display via HDMI. This worked, but it meant I couldn't use the laptop for anything else, and we had to have a place to sit the laptop.
2. Cast a laptop screen to the TV. A little better than Option #1 I found, but again, it limited the functionality of the laptop.
3. Turn the screen into a digital sign with digital signage software. This was the option we went with, and it worked well: we set up the OptiSigns app directly on our TV, and were able to configure it on a laptop. Setting up a PowerBI asset was really easy, and getting it on to the screen was equally simple. The nice thing about this is we could schedule it to run only during business hours, and because the app was set up on the TV, it was a simple set-it-and-forget it situation.
So yeah, option 3 is what I recommend. If you don't have a smart TV or screen, you can buy a pretty cheap preconfigured Android Fire Stick that has the software on it. Haven't tried it myself, but that's what I'd have done if necessary.
Hope this helps!
Hey @Anonymous ,
I think you have a few options here, you can:
I've actually built an external tool to allow users to display Power BI reports on TVs in really convenient ways. It's called Displagent. In my app, what you do is provision a service account with a Power BI license, and then you create an Azure App Registration in your Azure tenant. Then, you take the credentials from the Azure App Registration, along with the username and password of your service account, and enter them into Displagent. After that, you never have to worry about manually doing tokens or logins because Displagent handles all of that for you.
So I guess technically, you still have to have a dedicated user/service account in that case, but when you enter the credentails once, you never have to enter them again. These are the only options that I'm aware of, hope it helps!
@Anonymous , if you are a premium capacity customer, you can try the embedded power bi option, you can do a token-based authentication -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7HLyiAk-lQ
if not, you will need log in. You can use embed code for SharePoint or website
Thanks for the comment , i was looking for an option to run report on site/webportal that are displayed on TV without any uder login .All those option will require a tenant .Is there any option or any case where reports are running on TV without token/login ?
Not sure if there's a way to get around needing to authenticate (at least once) with a tenant, but I talk with businesses daily looking for a solution to cut down on the work they do to get Power BI data up on "big" screens.
