Discrepancies between Fabric and Power BI Desktop reports
I have discrepancies in what the Power BI report shows me in Fabric and what I see locally with Power BI Desktop.
The way I work with PBI is making changes locally and then uploading them to a repository, a repository that is synced with my Fabric workspace, where I do a UDPATE to pull the changes from the repository into Fabric.
I have noticed that I have some visualizations that don't sync well with the filter selections in the Fabric Online version. I go step by step simulating the same filter selection in Desktop and Fabric and I don't see the same thing. Both reports are connected to the same datasource, Fabric in DirectLake mode and PBI desktop in DirectQuery mode.
An example. Same filter in both reports:
- Fabric:
- PBI Desktop (empty, and it should be empty because there's not data with the filters I've applied):
In fact, If I go to Fabric report and I press on show as Table, I see that the table is empty although we can see that the visualization is still showing data:
It's like the visualization is not being refreshed, because internally Fabric report knows that it should be empty (when I turn the visualization into a table we can see it's empty).
Any ideas of what is happening?
I opened a support ticket. Now it's a known bug, they expect to resolve it by the end of december. The bug is with that visualization in PBI Service.

Hi amaaiia
What happens if you manually refresh your semantic model in the browser? Does the visual still show the wrong visualisation?

Hi,
Yes, I've just refreshed the semantic model (it shouldn't be necessary because of DirectLake mode), and still same issue. What shocks me is that I see the visualization and its “show as table” below it and the visualization gives me data and the table does not:

Hi amaaiia
DirectLake uses delta storage, optimized for real-time operations but sometimes can lag in reflecting changes to visuals because of internal caching mechanisms. You can try clear the browser cache and refresh the entire Fabric report.Best Regards,
