DirectQuery to OracleDB Formatting Data Type Text to Date

Hey everybody,

I'm using a DirectQuery to an Oracle Database, and I want to convert one of my columns from the Data Type: Text (at the moment the fields are strings in the format"6/09/2016"), to Date d/mm/yyyy. Using the formatting section of the Modeling tab will only work with an import, and I've tried following answers to similar questions using DAX with measures and custom columns but to no avail.

Is there a simple fix? or do I need to change they way I load the data into the database?

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

Ronan

    In Power BI Desktop, the Direct Query mode only takes the source data type, and you can't change the data type under this mode. So in this scenario, you have to convert the text column into date column on Oracle side.

    update Table set Date_Date = to_date(Date_Text, 'D/MM/YYYY');

    Regards,
