Direct query tables & Date Calculated table in model

Hi All,

I have imported 4 direct query tables in pbi desktop and i created one date calculated table. I joined the date table with other direct query tables. My query is how my data refresh should happen if i have 4 direct query tables & one date calcuated table in my model? Now my model is mixed mode, if i want to refresh my dataset in power bi service i need to install the gateway or i dont want to install the gateway why because all of my 4 tables are in direct queyr. Please advice. Thanks.

Hi @prakash11440278 ,

When you refresh the dataset in Power BI Service:

1. For the 4 table that imported into Power BI Desktop: Will get the latest data from datasource, then refresh the dataset in Power BI Service

2. For the date calculated table: Will refresh the date according to your calculate logic

Whether or not you need to install a gateway depends on whether or not the Power BI Service can access your data source properly.

If Service couldn't access the data source, now you need to install the gateway.

@prakash11440278 , If the direct query is from on-premise database you need a gateway. If that is from cloud database, in this case, it should not ask for a gateway.

Go to dataset setting and check (Power bi service- > workspace -> dataset row -> click on three dots -> setting)
