    I may have found a workaround by duplicating one of the queries first and then merging with the second query. This should (in my opinion) lead to the same result as the option "merge as new query".

     

    Still feedback from anyone who knows more about this would be very much appreciated as this error message makes me wonder...

Any chance you can do the merge in the background instead?  Like a materialized view since you're in Oracle?

 

This would be advantageous, as you'll be able to change the code in your view as many times as you want, and it will be essentially "seamless" to your report.

    No, unfortunatly I have no way to do this in the database. Thats why it would be convenient to do this in Power BI!

      Gotcha.  Well if it helps at all, I am constantly getting errors stating I can't combine features from DirectQuery and DirectImport types.  I think it's a known limitation.

        The thing is: both queries I am using are Direct Queries from the same data source. And merging them into one of them works fine. Just merging them as a new query results in this error. And as I am not importing anything I can make much sense of this error message.

        So if anybody has more information on this behaviour it would be highly appreciated!
