Direct Query Cannot Load Model. Login Failed for user. The exception was by raised by the IDbConnect
- Anonymous6 years ago
Hello @KarenFingerhut,
AFAIK, the current power bi pbix file connection credentials are stored locally.
Therefore, it means that it will prompt you to update/verify the data connection credentials if you send or download the pbix file directly and use it on another device or display the error message for any valid credentials to obtain and connect to the database.
Note: You are working in the direct query mode that will send the query each time you interact with visuals or load data. For the import mode data source, allows you to make some report layout changes to the pbix file if it does not operate on the backend query tables.I hope this will help you know more about your scenario.

Good morning (UK Time 😁) Xiaoxin
Many thanks for your reply, and yes that makes sense.
With regards to Direct Query - On this occasion the report has to be in DQ as I want to embed a PowerApp in the report and write back to the Database, and then use the 15 mins scheduled refresh
I'll leave this open for today and see if I can resolve. If I can ill close the call, if not and I still have some issues i'll post a further reply.
Once again thank you
Kind regards
Karen
