Different report by logged in user

I am new to PowerBI and I have a project where I store my data on MySQL( or I will use MSSQL) server. Each user has a defined ID. Is it possible to create a user login or something like that that would show reports for different users?

Login screen with powerBI shortcode will be on my website and I would like to show powerBi report by logged user. Report screen will be the same every time, but with different numbers for a different users.

I am sorry for this question, but I am new to powerBI. Is it even possible to create something like this? Thanks for any help.

Hi, @Anonymous

When you created the RLS in your Power BI dataset and set it up for the users who are going to open the report. Their accounts that are used to log in to the Power BI are the credentials required by RLS (Username and user principal name). They can access their report screen to see their restricted data as soon as the RLS started to take effect.

Therefore, you don’t have to create another username with a password for your users. Their Microsoft account (Username and user principal name) can be the basis for the effect of RLS.

How to create and use RLS in Power BI

Restrict data access with row-level security (RLS) for Power BI Desktop

Using the username() or userprincipalname() DAX function

If I understand correctly. It means, that when I assign a user with a Microsoft account and with RLS I will be able to show him a specific report with his unique data?

Hi, @Anonymous

Yes, this is roughly what I want to let you understand. To show the end-user a specific report with his unique data, you should also go to the “Security option” of the dataset that has RLS to assign them their corresponding created in Power BI desktop, like this:

In power BI you have data security by RLS

And for page security there is a blog here - https://www.fourmoo.com/2020/05/26/did-you-know-you-can-now-selectively-show-report-pages-for-specific-users-in-power-bi/

For RLS you can refer -https://community.powerbi.com/t5/MBAS-Gallery/Microsoft-Power-BI-Unleash-row-level-security-patterns-in-Power/td-p/712613

Hi, thank you for your response. I would like to ask if it is possible to create a username with a password for my users and then they can use these login data to access their report screen.
