Different colours for column headings

Hello everyone,

I am working on a matrix in Power BI desktop and struggling to change the background colours of the column headings. My rows represent time (Year and Month), my columns represent Customer Purchasing Segments (1-4) and the values represent the sum of Turnover. The numbers of the Customer Purchasing Segments are the Column Headers with the associated values organised by time beneath.

Previous posts (such as https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Desktop/How-to-give-Different-colors-to-the-column-heading-in-Power-BI/m-p/2091093 ) suggest changing the background colour under the "Specific Column Field". However, when I go to this field, the only option under "Apply settings to" is "Sum of Turnover". Here are screenshots of my matrix and associated options (table, column & values, visual options):

 

Does anyone know how I can change the background colour of a specific column header here? I want to make the background for Segment 1 gold but any change I make colours in the values section instead. The headers option for Sum of Turnover does not change the colour of the 1 representing Segment 1.

And yes, before you ask, I know it's in German. I'm an English speaker at a company that works through German!

    Hi RCro

     

    After my testing, Apply to Header is only useful in visualization applications that use multiple value columns and set special styles for the columns. And it can only be applied to all columns instead of specifying a particular column.

     

     

     

    Unfortunately, this is by design. Power BI is now unable to achieve what you need. You can submit an idea for it at  https://ideas.powerbi.com/ideas/ and wait for users with the same needs as you to vote for you to help make it happen as soon as possible.

    did you consider using shapes,  behind matrix column header ? 
    put the shapes ( behind the table), 1 per each column .

    remove the background color of the header of the matrix.

     

    add conditional formatting for shape background color. 

     

    well, this would work, if you fix the column width size ( and you turn off auto-width ) , and if you have a fixed number of columns .

      Thanks for the suggestion Daniel. I considered that approach. The problem is that the matrices change what is displayed depnding on the selected segment. If two segments are selected, the change in matrix size means that solution won't work sadly. Great for showing active slicers though!
