Difference between 'Go to the next level in Hierachy' and 'Expand all down one level in Hierachy'

Hi,

I am struggling understanding what is the difference between below two buttons? Looks like they do the same trick and would be great if someone can have a clear (simple) explanation. Much appreciated.

'Go to the next level in Hierachy'

'Expand all down one level in Hierachy'

In your case, the members of the 'next level down' are probably all unique. As opposed to my Month and Year example. There are multiple 'January' values, one per year.

Thanks for the reply. I have a barchart like below. When I click either button, it returns the same result, in the second screenshot. That's why I am confused, and I am sure users will be even confused. I can't really tell the differnce. Not sure if I miss something here? Thanks

Suppose your hierarcy is Years and Months. And you are viewing the X axis at the top level (Years). One of those actions will expand down to the 12 months, BUT each month will be inclusive of all years. In other words, the January column will be January of 2021 and January 2022 and January 2023, etc.

The other button will drill down to the Month and Year level (January 2021, Feb. 2021...Dec. 2021, Jan 2022, etc.)

Hope that helps
